Miami Hurricanes Football Team is set to open the 2009 season with a trip to Tallahassee. Yes, fellow Canes fans. The season opener will be against them Seminoles. Come September 7, 2009 the Miami Hurricanes football team is making a trip up to pay a visit at our neighbor Florida State Seminoles.

Wide Right? Wide Left? That was then, some years ago when both Canes and Seminoles were the top ranked teams in the NCAA. Preseason rankings released yesterday puts FSU at number 18. The Canes are not even on the Top 25. Florida (Gators), however, is ranked number one.

Last season, the Hurricanes managed a 7-5 season. The Miami Hurricanes Football team  started with a bang by trashing Charleston Southern 52-7. In the next game, it was the Hurricanes turn to be trashed 3 – 26 by eventual 2008 National Champions – Florida Gators. The Canes was also beaten by the Noles 39-41 at home.

Let’s take a peek at the Miami Hurricanes’ last 6 seasons:

  • 2008:  Wins 7 – Lost 5.
  • 2007: Wins 5 – Lost 7.
  • 2006: Wins 6 – Lost 6.
  • 2005: Wins 9 – Lost 2.
  • 2004: Wins 8 – Lost 3.
  • 2003: Wins 10 – Lost 2.

Will the Hurricanes perform better this year? Are they capable of producing a 10 – 2 season like in 2003? How about a 9 – 2 season?

Starting the season against FSU will be tough for the Miami Hurricanes Football Team. How did the Miami Team fare against Florida State the past 6 years?
