Miami Hurricanes Football TeamThe Miami Hurricanes Football Team suffered their first loss of the season. After two impressive performances that saw them climbing up the polls, the Canes faltered and was humbled when they traveled to Virginia Tech last weekend. The mighty offense could only muster a single touchdown as they fell to a 31 – 7 defeat.

The Hurricanes offense could not do much as they only rushed for a net total of 59yards. The passing game was not effective too. Jacory Harris completed only 9 passes from a total of 25 attempts to collect 150 yards. He also has one interception which resulted in a touchdown drive for the Hokies.

The Miami defense which stood strong to stop Florida State from scoring late in the fourth quarter failed to prevent Virginia Tech’s running game. The Hokies amassed a total of 272 yards rushing. They did, however, allow Virginia Tech only 98 passing yards.

The Hurricanes’ special team was also a let down. They allowed the Hokies to score from a blocked punt attempt. The blocked punt return puts the Hokies 14 points ahead in the first quarter.

The Miami Hurricanes are now 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. They had a chance to go top of the ACC after winning against two ACC teams in their first two matches. This loss puts them in the third spot in the ACC Coastal division.

Jacory Harris had very little time in the pocket. His offensive line was unable to provide him with the kind of protection he enjoyed in the first two matches. He was rushed and harassed through out the match. His first sack came as early as his fifth play in which he fumbled the ball.

Buy Miami Hurricanes Hooded Sweat ShirtThe loss to the Hokies not only brought the Hurricanes down with humility. They are also down at the polls. From the 9th spot, they are now ranked 17th.

The Canes will go up against another ranked team in their next fixture. Miami will host Oklahoma (8) at the the Land Shark Stadium. Will Miami Hurricanes Football spring another championship material performance or will they fall once again?

How will the loss effect the morale of the team? How far will they fall in the polls? Can the team bounce right back from this loss?
