SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia) has just signed up a partnership deal with eBay to give Malaysian small and medium businesses a boost in the global market. An alliance that looks to benefit many local small businesses. SMEs will be getting training from certified eBay Education Specialists.

Should SMEs now jump at the opportunity? Why not? I bet many are eagerly waiting to find out how to jump in.

However, I would like to put a caution to them. Don’t crash in blindly. I’m very sure training sessions will be provided. Get on the training program. Have an open mind. Take actions.

Besides, going in as a buyer, you get to study and analyze the auction system. Go ahead, bid and buy some items. Build a good reputation at the same time. Learn where to go to find hottest items. What other buyers are looking for. These, especially, will come in handy for you as a seller – knowing what buyers want.

Once you’ve got the hang of things as a buyer, time to move on and put on your seller hat.

eBay provides free online lessons for sellers. Read them. There are also many third party eBay Insiders Secrets type of materials. Take them. As you learn, act on the knowledge you’ve gained. Don’t wait until you complete the lessons before starting. Many just wait and wait and wait.

The best way to learn is by doing. So, as you learn from your readings, go start an auction of your own. Go and auction out something you no longer need – a pair of jeans, shoes, tennis rackets, golf clubs, whatever.

The idea here is to learn the ropes of being a seller. What are the steps required to put an item up for auction. How do the bids go from a sellers point of view. How to deal with different types of customers.

Don’t worry about profit or losses. The objective here is to learn how to work the system. Besides, you are selling off items you don’t really need anymore. So it’s basically all profit.

Enjoy the feeling of making your first sale on eBay. Treasure and live the moment for a bit. Move on to your next auction item. Keep doing this until you truly get the hang of how it all works. Take note of all the mistakes and successes you’ve experienced.

Gradually start selling items related to your SME business. Doing so will allow you to maintain your rapport with existing customers while you start building new ones. A good reputation really counts in the online world.

How To Get Checks From Amazon

So, to those of you who requested, this is how you can get Amazon to send you a check.

Register As An Amazon Associate

First and foremost, you need to register as an Amazon Associate. Head on over to the Amazon Associates website and register yourself as an associate by clicking on the “Join Now for FREE” button. Don’t worry. It’s F.R.E.E.

The only way to get Amazon to send you a check is by referring their products to others. When someone buys an Amazon product by clicking on your affiliate link (a link containing your Amazon Associate-ID), you get a commission from that Amazon sale. You get a check when your commission accumulates to a minimum of USD100.

Link To Amazon Products Manually

To effectively accumulate Amazon commissions, you will need a proper website of your own. Do you have a blog? If you do, you can create links to Amazon products in your blog posts. If you noticed, I’ve got quite a number of links to Amazon products on various posts in this blog.

Here is an example, the following link will take you to a book on Amazon titled “Make a Fortune Promoting Other People’s Stuff Online: How Affiliate Marketing Can Make You Rich (Paperback)“.

To create a link as above, you first need to have the url as follows:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0071478132/kodeexiinet-20

The link above contains two important entities:

1. ASIN Number – The ASIN Number of the product you are refering to. In the above sample, it is the number after the /ASIN/ part of the url – 0071478132 in above example.
2. Your Associate-ID – This is your Amazon Associate ID. kodeexiinet-20 in the above example. This tells Amazon to credit your account with commission if a sale is made from visitors that click on your link.

Amazon has created a tool to verify that your link is valid. If you are ever in doubt about your links, you can use Amazon Link Checker to verify.

Where can you find the ASIN Number?

The ASIN Number is displayed for every product on Amazon at the product details section. If you are promoting books on Amazon, then the ASIN Number is the ISBN-10 number for the book. The following two images shows you where you can find the ASIN Number from the Product Details section.

Amazon’s Link To This Page Utility

Amazon’s “Link to this page” is a utility provided by Amazon to help you create links to any Amazon web page automatically. It’s an excellent utility for you if you want to quickly generate a referral link to a page in Amazon.

Just click on the “Link to this page” button at the top of any Amazon web page. Follow the steps provided in the shown screen and you will have a html script that you can then copy and paste into your blog or web site.

Using the Link to this page tool, you can create referrals like the one you see over on the right side of this post. That’s Ewen Chia’s book on how he made his first million on the Internet. It’s a good reference if you are just starting up in Internet Marketing. I use it as a reference in my marketing journey too.

Choosing An Amazon Product To Promote

One of the most important factor to succeed as an Amazon Associate is the product you choose to promote on your blog or website. Seriously, you can’t just go and promote any product from the millions available in Amazon. If you want to be successful, you need to choose your product wisely.

The best products to promote are the ones related to the topic you are posting about in your blog or website. As you can see, in this particular blog post, I am promoting products related to Internet Marketing – specifically Affiliate Marketing.

Relevancy is the keyword here. You stand a better chance of making a sale if the product is relevant to the content on the page. Don’t be promoting toys for toddlers if your page is about Internet Marketing (like what I just did here). This will not get you much, if any, sale.

Go Do It Now!

Alright now. That’s the first few steps you need to do in order to get a check from Amazon. Indeed, there are a plethora of other ways to make commissions from Amazon. However, I recommend that you go and do the steps I’ve covered above first, before dwelling into other advance methods.

Note: Making money from Amazon is a long term project. Do not expect to get your first check in the first few months or perhaps first year.

I made my first check after one year of promoting Amazon products. The second check took me 3 months. The third, I don’t know yet. It depends on a lot of factors which I will cover in future posts.

Don’t let the above statement discourage you from doing it though. Start building your links in your posts now. You will start to accumulate more Amazon commissions as your blog or website start gaining traffic and visitors. Work hard now, reap the rewards in the future on autopilot.

Paypal Adds Withdraw Into Malaysian Banks Option

Up until now, we Malaysians can only withdraw our finds into credit or debit cards. Most would probably choose the latter as their means of withdrawals. However, not all debit cards can be verified by Paypal. We have the range of Al-Rahji, Public Bank and Maybank which are widely accepted. My Ambank and RHB debit cards failed the verification. Probably need to call the bank or something, which I have yet to do.

However, now that we can withdraw directly into our bank account, I don’t need to have a debit card. The best thing about this is it is cheaper than withdrawing to cards. Withdraw more than MYR400 and it is free, otherwise the charge is only MYR3. Compare that to the normal MYR20 fee for withdrawal to a card.

Let’s see now, no fee or just MYR3 against MYR20, which withdrawal option should I choose? Pretty obvious right?

You will need your bank’s routing code. Have no worry. Paypal have included a reference to Malaysian bank’s MEPS Routing Code. Just click on the Details link beside the Routing Code field. I think they have covered all the banks in Malaysia in there.

What next for Malaysia Online Business? Add funds directly from local banks? Ahhh.. that would certainly be bliss. Until that day comes, we can still add funds from our cards, be it debit or credit cards. That’s already good enough for me.

The Woman Behind Quite a Number of Successful Men

The second day started with Janet Switzer. Prior to Global Internet Summit 2008 KL, I’ve never even heard of her. Apparently, she’s like the person behind a whole lot of the most successful people in the world today.

Janet specifically mentioned that in order to be really successful, you should go beyond creating eBooks. One must actually focus on building a business empire. The eBook should only be used to gather leads and build up your list. Her pitch for the day – “How Experts Build An Empire“.

She provided a multitude of products, programs and services which can be expanded from the mere eBook which many marketers are focusing on. All 52 of those products, programs and services, which she calls profit centers, should be properly designed and inserted into the sales funnel. According to her, an eBook is just the ice breaker to get more traffic who will buy what ever it is in your sales funnel.

Janet gave out her step by step strategy, which she used with Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul), of using teleconference calls as a marketing tool. Pretty handy sample for those who wants to run teleconference calls. Following is what she included in the sample:

1. The invitation postcard she sent out to prospects.
2. An FAQ about conference call programs
3. A sample conference call moderator script
4. A sample memo to the guest speakers
5. A sample outline of a teleconference

I have to admit, it’s one hell of a great sample. Now I know what is involved in running a teleconference call. Perhaps I might just run one in the near future? Thank you Janet, for this excellent piece of information.  She also wrote Instant Income which is also another on of her best sellers.

I actually got to know Stephen Pierce from the many videos lying around YouTube, Metacafe, etc. The videos are so inspirational that I’ve downloaded a few of them. Never have I imagined that I will get the chance to meet up with him in person and listen to him live on stage.

He started his session by introducing us to his money call – “Hooo Tee Hooo”. Following are some of the main points I managed to grasp from his highly inspirational presentation.

1. We are here, in our current situation, due to the choices and decisions we made.
2. Do not wallow on the past, nor try to predict the future. Both, the past and the future are not within our control. We are in control of the present. Thus, we must concentrate on NOW to influence the future.
3. 3 words underperformers use in their daily life
   • Is it going to be easy?
   • Is it going to be convenient?
   • Is it going to be affordable?
4. The path to success is not comfortable. In order to achieve success, we must consistently choose and commit ourselves to be extraordinary and not be comfortable.

After presenting us with his brainwashing session. Stephen goes on to introduce us with the criteria of a successful business.

1. Rabid market of buyers
2. Sizzling hot selling product
3. Generate the right traffic
4. Websites that converts
5. Persuasive follow ups

The above then led to the sales pitch for his Make Real Money On The Internet (MRMI) program. His coaching program goes for RM4448 at the event. Was it a bargain? Bargain or not, so effective was his sales pitch, people ran out to get his program even before he completed his presentation. Maybe I should head on over to his site to get the MRMI book. Oh heck.. I might as well head on over there and get it while writing this. Ok, hold on for a bit while I go grab that book… there goes my focus..

Ok. I’m back from the MRMI site. Just discovered that the book only comes in printed form. Have to pay for the shipping – USD14.90. Perhaps I’ll try to find it at the local bookstore. Will it be available at the Popular in Amcorp Mall? That’s where I’ll be the entire day tomorrow. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow then.

S B I A X L N E A T T N E R A S – Take Away Six Letters, What Do You Get?

After the inspiring Stephen Pierce, the third speaker on day 2 was Adam Ginsberg. Most internet marketers would probably know him as the eBay guy. At least that how I know him. He did a number of eBay programs in Malaysia. In fact, I think he just did one in Malaysia a few months back.

Profit on eBay was not his topic, though, this time around. He focused on how to actually make money on the internet without any product of your own by utilizing products and services from eBay, Amazon, ClickBank and Adsense. Following are the steps according to Adam Ginsberg:

1. Choose a niche
2. Gather Keywords
3. Get a domain name
4. Hosting
5. Link domain to hosting
6. Setup Affiliate accounts and links
7. Build your store
8. Market your store

Adam Ginsberg showcased a new money making store software solution – Instant Store Builder (ISB). I have to admit, ISB is a truly amazing piece of software. What does it do? Well, here’s how it works. It’s a web application. You head on over to the Store Builder site and login. In there you get to create a website that looks like an eCommerce store. Just enter details about the store you want to build like – store name, product keyword, Amazon Associate ID, ClickBank ID, Adsense ID, and eBay Id. Select a store theme and template. Once you’ve completed filling up the store creation form, you then click on a Create Store button, and your store is created for you instantly. No programming. No designing.

Once the files for your store has been created, you can then upload the files directly into your domain from within the user interface itself. You don’t even have to use any FTP software. All is done from the ISB web front.

Your completed store will contain and display products from the four resources mentioned earlier – eBay, Amazon, ClickBank and Adsense. That’s four income streams. Passive income streams for you. You don’t need your own products to make money on the internet with this system.

The store you created, doesn’t only contain products from eBay, Amazon and ClickBank. The store also contains discussions related to the keyword you’ve selected. I don’t really know where they grabbed the discussions from. A Yahoo Groups discussion perhaps? Why the need for the discussions? My guess, the discussions serves as the content which search engines will index. If the site displays only products, then search engine probably not like it too much. Search engines loves indexing contents. An ecommerce store doesn’t really have a lot of content text.

The best thing about the system, you can basically churn out as many store as you want and make some money from it. Imagine this. Say you create just one single store a day using the software. After one year, you’d have like 365 stores. If each store were to make only USD1.00 per day, your potential income in a year would be USD1.00 x 365stores x 365days = USD133,225.00 per year from all the stores. Not bad, for a 15 minute a day job. That’s like how long it would take you to create a store with the system.

Another piece of software was also showcased. The CraigsList Optimizer. This piece of software actually complements the ISB. What it does? Basically, the software sends links to users in Craigslist who posted a request for items to buy.

Anyway, can any of you guess how much the two systems were offered to us at the GIS? The two systems were priced at RM13,997. A bargain? Well, if you were to look at the potential income it could generate for you, it’s surely is a bargain. I know quite a number of people signed up for it too. I don’t have RM14K to spend right now. I wonder if I’d signed up if I do have that amount to spend, though. Would you?

Among the great internet marketing minds coming over to present in this year’s Global Internet Summit are Mark Joyner, Stephen Pierce, Adam Ginsberg, Christopher Guerriero, Janet Switzer, J.T Foxx and Mark Vurnum. The first three, I’ve heard of them before. The others, they are new to me.

The presenters for the first day was Mark Vurnum of Lead Generation Videos and Mark Joyner of Simpleology and Integration Marketing.

Mark Vurnum presented on the topic of Lead Generation or probably better known as list building. Now, I am not unfamiliar with the benefits of list building. Many Internet Marketing Books and Resources have highlighted the importance of having a list. However, Mark Vurnum makes money with lists in a slightly different way.

We are probably used to the idea that we use our lists to send autoresponder emails and newsletters to get traffic from the list to our websites. That’s probably how many marketers use their list. That’s how I use mine too.

Mark Vurnum, however, monetize his lists directly. He even gets to monetize it over and over again. What does he do with his lists? He sells it to companies who are in need of leads to market their products.

How much is he getting from the list? How about USD30 per lead? How many lists do you have? How many leads are there in those lists? How many companies do you think would be interested in those leads you have lying around in your list database?

The second presenter was Mark Joyner. Many of you would’ve heard about him from his many books and programs. One of his program is called Simpleology.

I like Mark Joyner’s presentation for he not only covered the business and internet marketing aspects of online business. He also covers the mindset change required to be successful.

He started off with mindset programming. What is a problem. How to make problems look small. How to identify the cause of a problem and ultimately find a solution to the problem.

A lot of what Mark Joyner presented, I can relate what T. Harv Eker spoke about in the Millionaire Mindset Intensive. Mark mentioned specifically “You first product will suck!” To me this is directly in line with T. Harv’s saying “Every master was once a disaster”. We should not wait and procrastinate until we know everything and try to start our business perfectly. We ought to just start with whatever knowledge we have and build the business as we go.

The best part of Mark Joyner’s presentation was his Q&A session. I managed to record a few brief moments of the Q&A section with Mark Joyner. Will post them up as soon as I manage to process them audio files into internet worthy formats.

I was more than satisfied with the value of the materials presented by both Marks in the first day of GIS. I managed to learn a number of new ideas and concepts. Besides that, it was also sort of like a refresher for me on the stuff presented by T.Harv Eker during MMI.

As with any Internet Marketing related seminars, there’s always the sales pitch at the end of each presentations. Special for GIS2008KL, Mark Vurnum is offering his 30 Day Lead Generation Power Profits for MYR2447. Mark vurnum’s Lead Generation Masterclass is going for USD997 on the internet. I’m not sure whether the two are actually the same in content and delivery. If they are, then the GIS2008KL prizing surely is a bargain.

Mark Joyner presented his “Brand New to Best Seller” Home Study Program for MYR3500. I could not find this program on the net either. As such, I have no basis of price comparisons. I also discovered that I actually am already a member in Mark Joyner’s IntegrationMarketing website. Wow, when did I registered? Have I downloaded his free eBook already? Guess I’ve got to go and search for it in my IM folder a bit.

As with all the events I’ve attended, I’ve got the photos taken during the event uploaded into my PicasaWeb Album. This time my photos are really not too high in quality though. They were taken with my Sony Ericsson phone. My trusted Olympus is currently out of order. It’s lens cover is somewhat stuck.
