Good Sound at a Great Price
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought the Logitech Z313 2.1 speakers with some hesitation. The box they come in is shockingly small. But once I had them set up (which took two minutes) I was very pleased with their sound. I have had them now for a couple months and I cannot complain at all. They are not terribly loud, which is great for me as I live in an apartment building in downtown Burlington, Vermont. I will not be getting in trouble with my landlord or the police behind these speakers. They have a nice, full sound but they do not scream or crank up and rattle the windows in the buildings down the street. I used to have the Klipsch 2.1 THX speakers, which were much louder and sharper and bassier but they cost three times as much and I wound up bothering my neighbors a few times without meaning to. If you live in a dorm or anywhere you need to respect the noise comfort level of others, these speakers should do great for you. They have a good, full sound, and they do get pretty loud; they’re just not too loud and that is a good thing.
I use my laptop to surf the web, listen to music and watch movies. I use my 32″ LCD HDTV as a second monitor. I don’t have cable TV and get all my movies and TV shows online at sites like Hulu. These speakers are true troopers. They always sound great no matter what I am doing. I keep the subwoofer on the floor beside my desk, set up on the box the speakers came in. Bass-driven music like Sublime or Primus sound especially clean. I would recommend these to anyone. I willprobably buy a set or two as gifts this Christmas. I like them that much.
For the price, I suppose.

I have tried multiple speaker systems in the past and these are just ok, but great at 40 dollars. After sampling Sony and Samsung, its hard to compare those to these. Logitech does make good quality products which I own many of. For the low price that they are, it fits the budget of most people. For college dorm room living, its appropriate since it wont get too loud. But if you are looking for something to really kick the floor, these are not for you. I suggest spending at least 75 for a good speaker set. Cyber acoustics is what I had in college and they were great.
Decent Speakers for price
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
So far I am pretty happy with this product. If you are a musician like my self, then you will know the entensive research involved in finding the “perfect” pair of speakers. These are not by an means the perfect pair of speakers nor is the sound of an amazing quality but they are good for the price. For 50 bucks, these speakers do the trick! I would have preferred that there existed a bass volume knob on the subwoofer but I have found that the more i use it, the less I find need for a bass volume control. The speakers themselves are a bit trebbly (if that is a word). In order to get a better sound out of them I recommend adjusting the equalizer in your music playback program (in this case itunes). I’ve found that by adjusting the eq in Itunes, I have achieved a pretty decent sound out of them. I searched all of the internet and returned a great many pair of sub par speakers in the $50 dollar range and I am the happiest with these. If you want a really decent system and have the money to support your fix then I recommend a Jbl product. Jbl makes really good sounding systems, DO NOT BUY BOSE! Although the Bose system has a decent sound, the so called “woofer” lacks decent bass range capabilities and for 400 dollars one could get amazing speakers from some place else, do not be fooled. Over all these are not the best speakers that I’ve ever had but I am usually happy with Logitech products and they take up very little space and produce a sound equatable to the price.
The Price Is Right
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was looking for a pair of speakers for the computer in my room–and I didn’t want to spend a lot. I heard this at a store–they were next to a Bose Demo, Klipsch Demo and several others. I fell in love with these right away. Ironically, my big concern was the price–it was so low that I felt these had to be bad speakers. Why else would they be so reasonably price? When they arrived at home, I thought they wouldn’t sound as good. Actually, they sound perfect. Whether I am listening to Heartbreak On Vinyl or The Beatles Uke or Taking Chances, this works for me. Of course, it is not perfect, but for this price, I don’t expect recording studio quality.
Logitech Z313 vs. X-230 vs. X-240 — The Little Speakers That Could.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3UXKN5ZXJB2L5 Well, Logitech definitely tried to go for clarity with these speakers. But…
————————–
Z313: Treble/highs dominant – can sound flatter/definitely not as much depth compared to X-230. Relies too much on the subwoofer for bass (looks like they took some of the qualities of the X-230 and X-240, and this speaker was born)
X-230: Bass dominant – Best surround sound feel/for parties/etc. (kind of odd how a really old model is still more impressive)
X-240: Just overall flat – felt really muffled – least impressive.
————————–
The Z313 is easily better than the disappointing X-240 (with the gimmick iPod cradle), but I still feel the X-230 set the bar in this price range/2.1 speakers.
Unlike the X-230, there is no option to turn the speakers into a wall mount. The X-230 was just quite impressive for its category. There is no knob to control the bass either (only a volume control on the remote). The subwoofer is similar to the X-240 with it being exposed, which I don’t necessarily like. I also wish the remote could be detached instead of being pre-wired to the subwoofer.
I was surprised how light and small the Z313 speakers were; it does look pretty good, but it did feel somewhat cheaper to me because of those factors. However, despite having low expectations from a small set of speakers, I was somewhat impressed because I did, at least, still feel some surround sound — unlike the X-240. The subwoofer is also slightly smaller in size than the X-230. When compared to the X-230, however, the sound does not feel as dynamic because the X-230 still contains more speaker drivers + bass. I asked for an opinion from two other people and they both agreed the X-230 sounded richer and the Z313 was definitely more flatter because of the high treble.
Pros:
- For treble lovers. (if you’re looking for more depth/bass, stick with the X-230)
- Small and really light (makes you wonder if there’s anything in there?!)
- Design looks pretty good/perfect for a small desk and doesn’t take too much space.
- Pretty good surround sound for its size.
Cons:
- No physical knob to control the bass.
- The speakers itself really lack bass (relies all on the subwoofer).
- Not as much depth/surround sound as the X-230
- Ugh, wires… remote is pre-wired to the subwoofer and has two wires(going to the swoofer/speakers), and is somewhat cheap.
I actually give it a 3 or a 3 1/2 Stars for me. I definitely recommend this more than the X-240, but if you own the X-230 or can get a hold of one — and you don’t mind the bass — then I’d stick with the X-230 instead. WITHOUT A DOUBT, the X-230 is a lot better. Basically, if you’re not a big fan of bass and prefer treble/highs more, then these speakers are for you.
