Decent Speaker System for an Office
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The sound quality of these speakers is pretty good, but not great. I am using these in my office and they sound ok, though I definitely wouldn’t suggest them for an audiophile. My biggest issue with this system is that the desktop control system is hardwired to the sub woofer. This means that the desktop control wiring cannot be run through the wire runs built into my desk. If the unit plugged in to the sub woofer, then the wiring would be much neater.
Good Speakers for low price
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
These are personal speakers, that is, they will not fill a room with sound but a small area in front of the PC. (Which is what I was looking for.) The cables between the volume unit and the sub-woofer are directly attached and cannot be replaced. (This is bad if the cable breaks, or you want to use different lengths.)
At high volumes the small top speakers start clipping.
So, the short of it, if your need is small personal speakers which to listen to music, or games at medium volumes, this is an ideal low cost solution. However, I may already have to upgrade because I would like better sound at higher volumes.
If you need cheap speakers, thumbs up… otherwise you should pay more
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I use these for my lap top so didn’t want to go crazy with expensive speakers. I gave this three stars, even though I would say I am overall happy with these speakers as a starter set for my purposes. They are really cheap for what you get. In that regard, I almost want to give them 4 stars for functionality. HOWEVER:
1) They definitely are low end with respect to sound quality. There are definitely worse speakers, but these could not possibly be considered particularly good.
2) If you are a nerd about sound, it requires that you manually adjust the subwoofer. Better speakers will not require that you do this. I guess if you really really like bass, then this is the set for you. Otherwise, it really is odd how often I have to adjust the subwoofer setting.
3) They take up a bit of space for the sound quality. If you’re going to take up that much room, you might as well pay up a bit more for better sound.
4) The wires end up being bit short for my purposes. Each piece is connected together, making it a bit of a web of wires. I REALLY wish there was another way around that.
However, for the price you can’t beat it. If you’re broke and want something better than a lap top speaker, this not a bad starter set.
if you are going to use third party USB cables, makes sure that they have the RU or UL mark for best performance..;,
