couldn’t be happier with them
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
i shopped for new spkrs for at least a month…going from retail outlet (via computer) to online search…i originally picked out the altec lansings but those were discontinued and though available are hard to find…stumbled across these…WOW!!!…i’m not easily inmpressed by much anymore…somethings has to WOW me to even consider them…while these are not BOSE at 300.00 it’s comparing apples to oranges…they arrived on time…setup in less than 5minutes…the sound…remarkable for the price range…actually i would have to say exceptional for the price!!!it actually exceeds my estimate of wattage for the room being used…thank goodness for volume control…if you like music (and i have over 450 albums on my hard disk and am always creating playlists) or video games (i don’t play them but think a videogamer would be very happy) these are the ones…i don’t even see a reason why i would ever want to upgrade them…my friends say i have a masters degree in returns because i’m never satisfied…well not with these…i’ll have to find something to else to “bitch” about and return so i can maintain my reputation!!!
Good set for the price paid.

I purchased this speaker set for my daughter’s MP3 more than the computer. It has a good sound but there is a sound distorion when you increase the volume. But i can’t complain for the price paid.
Don’t pay more than 30 bucks for this item.
A sound unlike what you’d expect for the tiny size and tiny price

I’ve had two of these units. The first I bought about 3 years ago after hearing them in the store and couldn’t believe how much bass they produced for such a tiny subwoofer. The treble and upper midrange is also good. Only the low midrange has a gap which makes things sound kinda theatre-ish or like in “loudness on” mode. The second set I saw a year later sale for 29$ and needed to snap it up. One for upstairs and another for below.
They are great with my laptops and my mp3 players. It’s true that the wiring isn’t top quality. The earlier set I bought actually had better quality wiring but after 2 years of being plugged in and unplugged daily the cord did start to crackle.
Someone in reviews said the bass and treble were weak and distorted but I’m thinking that the impedance of their sound source must have been a different standard. It works loud and clear with thumping bass and crisp highs on my HP system and my Dell system as well as every MP3 player I connected to it.
I even used it for an amp to my electric violin pickup. That sounds good too, actually quite loud and powerful.
One defect I can think of is that the blue light on the right speaker went out a couple hours after I plugged it in. But who needs a blue LED shining in your face anyway right? No biggie for me. It could be a indication of their general quality control though.
One thing to note is that my girlfriends Toshiba laptop makes it sound too weak. I can’t turn it up enough to hear the quieter recordings well. But I’m sure it is due to the laptop because her built-in speakers are also too quiet.
Summary. If you aren’t worried about the wiring and looking for the best system under $45 that is portable and sounds great then this is for you. It’s max volume level is somewhat limited but unless you plan to irritate the neighbors it shouldn’t be a problem anyway.
Good enough for classical, jazz, youtube, low-end home theatre or even portable instrument amps (with the right impedance matching)
After 3 years and two systems It’s the only amplified speaker system I need.
Decent for the price

For the price I paid…great. If you want something better, pay over 100 for them. Good for one room amplification and no more. If you have roommates, this is pretty good.
