    Great camera, feaures just ok

First, let me say I love this camera. It has great image quality, and some features that are quite fun to use. My dad has been using it to talk to me via skype, and his connection isn’t the best in the world. We’ve had problems in the past with Microsoft LifeCam, but this one works as smoothly as possible.

Pros: Great image quality, HD (if your connection can take it).

Features are super fun. It can replace your image with an alien, a cat etc, and it follows ur movements (such as when u speak, the alien speaks… but he can also throw up :) )

It has a great mic… works like a charm! no noises, but still a clear sound.

Con: Some of the features take a little getting used to. I’m not sure if it’s the face recognition, but it keeps zooming in and out sometimes… it’s actually quite disturbing, like an 80s cheap kids show. But I imagine you can turn that off.

Price is not what I would like it to be, but still pretty good bang for the buck. Guess this is more a pro than a con.

Easy to use fun web cam.

I gave this to my 13 year old with no instructions or direction at all. In 10 minutes she had it installed and was using it to chat a friend on her older slower laptop. Cool toy to connect with friends and family. For the price and the ease of use I would highly recommend it for casual web conversations.

Gets the Job Done, But Not Exceptional

I used several webcams, including the Logitech Pro 9000 and the Logitech Quickcam STX, before trying this one. I’m not overly impressed by the Creative. Software installation requires reading the installation instructions carefully, but I did and didn’t have any trouble. I find the Logitech attachment hardware more secure, but I was able to mount the Creative on my LCD monitor. The picture is not bad, but not remarkable. Don’t imagine that because it says “HD” you’re going to see a picture that will take your breath away; it’s not much better than the basic Quickcam, and not as good as the Pro 9000, which had better optics. Also, the Pro 9000 has face tracking, and although this one claims to, it certainly didn’t seem to work for me, so the image tends to be blurry if you move at all. Also, it doesn’t capture a very wide angle, so it cuts off images that aren’t right in front of the lens. Low light performance was just average, and the tint quality was variable–sometimes excellent, other times it had an odd glow.

In short, the Creative works and is marginally better than a really low-end unit, but for a little more money I’d recommend the Pro 9000.

    Overpriced

This video camera is overpriced for the quality; video is not stellar and features aren’t noteworthy. Overall, a decent webcam. 3 stars.

    Good quality web cam

This unit produces a good quality image even in low light conditions. The focus is sharp and the colors seem true. The only problem I had with it is the way it attaches to the top of a monitor. My display has rounded edges and the web cam would not stay in place without taping it. It comes with software to play around with backgrounds, but it’s not the kind of thing most adults would care about. I like the vertical adjustment for a persons height. It’s easy to adust for eye level with respect to the monitor.
